We learned recently that club member Tom Bechet passed away in April. Tom was an active member
of the club back in the Windige Stadt days, and he maintained his membership in the revived club from
its inception. His widow, Ann McLaughlin, has provided us with the following excerpt from his
obituary, published in the Chicago Tribune on April 20, 2008.
Thomas Paul Bechet, age 56, of Wayne, loving husband of Ann, beloved father of Leigh; son of the late
Austin and Virginia Bechet; devoted brother of Virginia (Marc Hoch) George; and cherished uncle of
Ellen (Rob) Hudak and Sarah George and brother-in-law of Mary (Brian) Duffy, Sara (Tommy) Napier,
Michael (Jamie) McLaughlin and Tricia (Dan) Barrett. He was a former board member of the Human
Resources Planning Society (HRPS) in New York. He published a book on strategic staffing for
businesses and organizations and the second edition "Strategic Staffing-A Comprehensive System
for Executive Workforce Planning" was recently issued. He was a member of Little Home Church
by the Wayside UCC in Wayne, where he was active in the choir and a former moderator. He was
also a member of the Porsche Club of America and a devoted fan of the Kane County Cougars.
On behalf of the membership, the Midwest 356 Club has given a memorial
contribution in Tom's name to Manhattan College, his undergraduate alma mater.
